If Spring Cleaning is just work, work, work – then you haven’t read April’s ‘Judy’s Healthy Thoughts’. – bringing you tips on how to turn your Spring Cleaning into a fun, healthy, pleasant time for your body, mind AND soul…..
Now that the winter months are drawing to an end we find many Canadian wanting to open the windows and doors and sweep out the buildup that has accumulated over the past months. This annual practice is referred to as SPRING CLEANING and happens all over the world when ward weather comes. This practice was first started in ancient times at the beginning of April because it was finally warm enough to open the windows and let the wind blow through the house without the threat of insects. In North America before the advent of the vacuum cleaner it was a practical way to clean throughout the house and a good time to hang out the mats and rugs so they could hit them with a stick or broom to get all the dirt out.
We still do this annual event as soon as the temperatures are warmer because it is nice to air-out our homes, office and schools. This is also the time of year to clean-up not only the inside but the outside of our houses and yards. Spending time in the garden and flowerbeds cleaning out the old leaves and rubbish that has accumulated over the winter months will help to get your body back into shape.
I would think it would be a good practice to do the same to our physical, mental and spiritual beings as well. Every year in the spring I do a colon cleanse using our Fiber Cleanse product for about 1 month. I also start eating more and more raw food once the warmer weather comes and stays with us so and I find that with eating over 90% raw my body feels lighter and more energized.
Spring cleaning of our minds is a good thing to do and what better way to start this than to make lists of what you want to do this spring and into the summer months. Give yourself lots of time to dream a little of the activities you can do once the summer months arrive. Take the time to dust out the cob-webs that have gathered from our long winter withdrawal and join a group for intellectual activities.
This is also the time of year that our churches, temples and synagogues open their doors for spiritual events that include prayer evenings and lectures about our spiritual wellbeing.
