Flax Seed Cereal with a Blueberry Smoothie

Preparation time: 10 minutes

Serving size: for 1 person

Method:It is best to grind your flax seed fresh just as you are going to use it. I use the Tribest® Personal Blender with the grinding blade if I am using fresh flax seed. I always make sure I buy organic flax seed; either brown or golden is good.

Put the following in a cereal bowl:

  • 4 tbsp (1/4 cup) ground flax seed
  • ½ tsp spice (cinnamon or allspice, nutmeg, cloves, ginger)

For variety add one/or some of the following:

  • 1 tbsp (sunflower, pumpkin, sesame or poppy seeds)
  • 1 tbsp unsweetened coconut or other ground nuts (almonds, pecans, walnuts, hazelnuts, brazil)

Now add ½ cup of the blueberry smoothie:

Blueberry Smoothie

  • 1 ripe banana sliced
  • 1 cup Blueberries
  • 1 cup cold water (or raw almond milk)
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup ice cubes

Put all the ingredients in your blender and blend on high until smooth

Stir until it is the consistency of porridge; add more liquid to get the moisture level you like.
