CLEANSING
Spring is the time of cleansing. Rushing waters announce the new season, whisking away the winter, bringing hopes of blooms and sunshine. Hope for your body comes with a spring cleansing, reaping the secrets of juicing…….refreshing….. flowing….. health through you…
We are continuing our look at the “Get Healthy Stay Balanced” program – As we enter the season of Spring we are looking at Cleansing. Detoxification: occurs when toxins, or poison, are being emptied into the bloodstream as a result of internal cleansing.
When you change to a healthy diet and lifestyle one of the first things you might encounter is what we call the “Healing Crisis” when you feel tired, run-down and even sick! This healing crisis is the process of detoxification. This process of cleansing takes time but most people will find it only lasts a short period of time and then they will feel more alert and full of energy!
Why does detoxification occur? First let’s see why we developed the ailments in the first place.
We have been eating the wrong foods with additives and preservatives for many years, building up toxins in our body.
- The body is “Miraculously Self-Healing”, wanting to keep us alive no matter what we put into it, but over the years when that balance was upset due to our eating habits, the body tried to rid itself of the toxins. These toxins were then stored deep within the tissues and cells because there were too many for it to keep up with (this is what causes disease to begin in those areas where the toxins were stored).
- As we begin to eat healthier, the body will start removing all the stored-up toxins causing the “Healing Crisis”.
This cleansing process can be done many ways:
- Eliminating through the bowels: raw vegetables & fruits have the fiber needed for this elimination. This can be helped with the daily addition of a scrubbing fiber in the form of organic Flax-seed and by using Fiber Cleanse at the beginning of the diet change for about 3 months.
- Eliminating through the skin, daily bathing, by dry skin brushing, using natural soaps
- Eliminating through our lungs, proper breathing when exercising takes in more oxygen and thus eliminates the toxins and carbon dioxide
- Eliminating through the lymph system: this can be done by exercise, walking or rebounding 15 minutes each day
- Eliminating through the mucous membranes, by consuming enough pure liquids from our fruits, vegetables, and distilled water (that has been revitalized by adding WaterMax™)
Nutrients from our food are broken down in the stomach and absorbed in fluid form into the blood stream from the small intestine. Whatever is not absorbed moves down into the colon. Fruits and vegetables which are high in water and fiber are easily digested in 30-45 minutes but animal foods that have no water or fiber might take as much as 72-96 hours to be processed through the body. When other foods such as sugars, starches and refined products are consumed along with animal fats and protein digestion is further impaired and fermentation takes place in the stomach causing heart burn, indigestion, bloating, headaches and nausea. Fiber is essential for good digestion helping to dilute, bind, inactivate and remove toxic substances. Fiber is only found in plant foods such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds and grains.
